1. Begin With the Text
Read the passage in context. Observe what it says before rushing to symbolism, application, or conclusions.
2. Trace the Development
Ask how a theme, promise, person, place, covenant, or image develops across Scripture. “First mention” can be a useful study doorway, but it is a method—not a doctrine or automatic rule.
3. See Christ Faithfully
Ask how the New Testament connects the subject to Jesus and the gospel. We do not force every detail into a hidden prediction. We follow the connections Scripture itself supports.
4. Understand the New Covenant
Consider how Christ’s death, resurrection, reign, and gift of the Spirit shape the way believers understand and live the truth today.
5. Live What Is True
Move from information to faithful response: worship, repentance, prayer, wisdom, love, obedience, service, endurance, and hope.
6. Continue the Story
Follow related themes and passages. Keep notes. Ask better questions. Learn with the Church. Let one study open the door to a lifetime of Scripture.
